Moo-sic and Worship at Biddenden’s Farm Church

First published on: 4th October 2024

On Sunday, 29th September, a special ‘Farm Church’ service was held at White House Farm in Biddenden, bringing together local community members in a unique setting. The service took place in a large cattle shed amongst the farm animals, where attendees sat on hay bales and worshipped God accompanied by guitarists.

The service offered an opportunity for both adults and children to participate actively. Percussion instruments were played, and the informal atmosphere allowed for a sense of joy and community involvement. The service featured a puppet, Malachi the church mouse, who engaged with the children as they worked together with the adults to complete a Bible verse.

Reflecting on the event, Jayne Shillito, Priest in Charge of Biddenden: All Saints and Smarden: St Michael’s, said: “It is easy to see why this intergenerational service is a firm favourite among the Biddenden and Smarden communities and we are so grateful to the Sargent family for kindly agreeing to host us.”
